This process is sophisticated and has to be carried out under precise conditions. Production is the initial step, after that medicines need to be packed and repacked.

Following manufacturing, the drugs are boxed up into large containers and shipped on. Pharmaceutical repackaging is generally realised by an external corporation. This institution gets pharmaceuticals and then reorganizes them into smaller packs, like blisters in cartons or plastic bottles. The packages, in which medicines are transported have to meet particular requirements. Sometimes the constant temperature is required to save all the properties. That is the reason why some packages are specially insulated. The process has a name of „cold chain”. For example, some types of capsules or vaccines must be kept in the fridge – in patient’s house also. The other case of pharmaceutical repackaging is being realized in pharmacies. Some patients come to the pharmacy for prescription medicines. The appropriate drug is produced by pharmacist according to the physicians’ indications. So the pharmacies get bigger amounts of specific substances, which are next divided into tinier parts, properly mixed and packed in tinier containers for users. The apothecary instructs the client how to store this drug and how much time it may be used with maintaining its properties.

A drug is a special product, which needs to be packed carefully and kept in specific conditions. The whole procedure guarantees that drug gets in patient’s hands in perfect shape and its value is completely maintained.
